Bird flu effect on the economy
I come from Bulgaria, so I saw the effect of the
bird flu on the
economy in a country where no man got sick. The prices of the chicken meat fell drastically, everyone stopped consuming it and its export was forbidden by the other countries. And was the bird flu actually so dangerous, as they tried to present it? In a country as China, which has a population that is about 1/6 of the world's population or 1,2 billion people, only 1200 people died. Yes, but the bird flu seriously distracted their economy. And why was the panic so huge since a person couldn't get sick by eating the meat? Why did the media make it such a great probem? Every day thousands of people die of heart attack and why aren't there then everyday announcements against the consumption of Mc Donalds, Dunkin Donuts, Burger King etc.? Because this would harm also the interests of western countries...
The bird flu is only a means to influence Chinese economy and I believe that it wasn't even planned to reach Europe. Why would I write the word "planned", because I really believe that the bird flu is an idea of the West which is trying to slower down the economic prosperity of the East and especially of China. If China continues to develope so fast, in 20 years it will be the most powerful country in the world and that's a fact, which everybody knows.
I saw what a small problem like bird flu could do to the economy of a state and there is absolutely no doubt that it is a plan of some sick minds.
All this can hurt the world's economy (especially the poor countries). This video below (provided by First Business Morning News) explains some of the possble affects of the bird flu on the business:

I suppose you are more a business person. Yes, avian flu really does hurt the economy. Think of how many business related to chicken, like cake? The world has been calm for years and people forget what is "pandemic". Check out the Spanish flu. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spanish_Flu If a break out happened, the disaster by Spanish flu is nothing compare to Avian flu's (people travel more often now). By the way, what is this "planned" thing? I take that you meant that west created the virus to hurt Chinese economy. So SARS was planned also? In conclusion, AIDS was planned too, to wipe out Africans, but was out of control?

IMHO, it's just the media catching on to something that has the potential to explode into something huge. Yes, avian flu could possibly be one huge-ass pandemic. Could it kill millions, if nothing is done probably. Is it going to happen soon? Who knows? But scaring the public sells news... doesn't it? It's not all bad, because of the publicity avian flu has gotten thru the media, more and more people are aware of it and much more is being done to find a cure or a vaccine before it gets any worse...

A DNA vaccine can onlu be tailor made after the strain has become apparent! This will take 3 months once the strain is known. Antiviral drugs however will reduce the symptoms. We are waiting for antigenic shift to occur, ie some1 with the bird flu virus has the human flu, and the viruses combine. This will cause a flu virus which research indicates (WHO.int) which will kill 1 in 2 ppl. ie a flu which will kill 1 in 2 ppl!! That is why it is imperative we address the situation before it is to late. Flu pandemics occur in cycles, and we are due for a global pandemic. Last one was 'Spanish flu' 1918, which killed a large amount of ppl

Am forwarding email I received. Judge for yourself. The Story is : "Bird Flu" $ Do you know that 'bird flu' was discovered in Vietnam 9 years ago? $ Do you know that barely 100 people have died in the whole world in all that time? $ Do you know that it was the Americans who alerted us to the efficacy of the human antiviral TAMIFLU as a preventative. $ Do you know that TAMIFLU barely alleviates some symptoms of the common flu? $ Do you know that its efficacy against the common flu is questioned by a great part of the scientific community? $ Do you know that against a SUPPOSED mutant virus such as H5N1, TAMIFLU barely alleviates the illness? $ Do you know that to date Avian Flu affects birds only? $ Do you know who markets TAMIFLU? $ ROCHE LABORATORIES. $ Do you know who bought the patent for TAMIFLU from ROCHE LABORATORIES in 1996? $ GILEAD SCIENCES INC. $ Do you know who was the then president of GILEAD SCIENCES INC. and remains a major shareholder? $ DONALD RUMSFELD, the present Secretary of Defense of the USA. $ Do you know that the base of TAMIFLU is crushed aniseed? $ Do you know who controls 90% of the world's production of this tree? $ ROCHE. $ Do you know that sales of TAMIFLU were over $254 million in 2004 and more than $1000 million in 2005? $ Do you know how many more millions ROCHE can earn in the coming months if the business of fear continues? $ So the summary of the story is as follows: $ Bush's friends decide that the medicine TAMIFLU is the solution for a pandemic that has not yet occurred and that has caused a hundred deaths worldwide in 9 years. $ This medicine doesn't so much as cure the common flu. $ In normal conditions the virus does not affect humans. $ Rumsfeld sells the patent for TAMIFLU to ROCHE for which they pay him a fortune. $ Roche acquires 90% of the global production of crushed aniseed, the base for the antivirus. $ The governments of the entire world threaten a pandemic and then buy industrial quantities of the product from Roche. $ So we end up paying for medicine while Rumsfeld, Cheney and Bush do the business.
